President Petro's Twitter Debacle Reveals His Role In The US Infowar Against Bukele

Petro's — and Lula's — schemes reveal a mutated woke Pink Tide is now afoot, with self-declared “leftists” in Latin America being part of the US’ regional defense mechanisms as Hybrid War proxies.

As the New Cold War rages around the globe, the US empire is obtaining major support from Latin America's Pink-Tide governments to discredit El Salvador's Bukele and its democratically elected government. The latest chapter occurred when President Petro of Colombia criticized and discredited the labor of the Salvadoran government under Bukele via live appearances and on Twitter, yet it backfired when Nayib Bukele replied and crumbled the Colombian leader’s public image. The article details Gustavo Petro's role within this liberal-globalist Woke Tide – previously known as Pink Tide – as it pertains to the Hybrid War against Salvadoran sovereignty.

President Gustavo Petro publicly said El Salvador is a concentration camp as a way of criticizing the supposed human rights violations in connection with the arrest and imprisonment of 50,000 gang members in the Central American country nonetheless his accusations eerily echo ones made last year by a US Senator comparing Bukele to Hitler.

How it started

So this latest chapter in the Petro-Bukele feud began on march 1 2023 when President Petro Gustavo made harsh criticisms of El Salvador's new Terrorism Confinement Center during a Universidad Distrital event which I will reproduce for clarity's sake:

"[...] I cannot go into other countries, of the concentration camp of El Salvador, full of young people, thousands and thousands imprisoned; it makes one shudder. I believe that there are people who like that, undoubtedly, to see the youth in prisons, and they believe that this is security. And popularity soars, we also experienced it here in Colombia. The president of El Salvador feels proud because he managed to reduce the homicide rate, he says, by subduing the gangs that today are in those prisons, which in my opinion are Dantesque".

 The preamble of Petro's chosen words, "Concentration camp" was meant to allude to and equate Bukele with a fascist dictator no other than Hitler. These public expressions by President Petro Gustavo go hand in hand with others made in July 2022 by Democratic Senator Bob Menéndez comparing President Nayid Bukele to Hitler, and accusing him of making pacts with organized crime. This synchronization doesn't come out of the blue but of a carefully selected script, a dutifully woven narrative full of virtue signaling so that Colombia can dictate morality to other, smaller Latin American nation-states. The United States uses divide-and-conquer strategies to create animosity between Latin American and Caribbean nations effectively fragmenting the hemisphere into a sandbox of Northamerican geopolitical dominion. 

Petros' hit jobs on El Salvador – and Lula’s on Nicaragua and Russia – is meant to provide the Woke-Tide with moral superiority by virtue signaling followed by discrediting the accomplishments of more sovereign governments in the region recently castigated by the US. These woke Latin American liberal-globalist proxies serve as a continuation of US foreign policy through a Hybrid War, as these actors are wrongly perceived in the international mainstream as no different than Venezuela’s Maduro or Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega hence are trusted by many without raising suspicion, when in fact they prepare the region for US narratives to take hold and further US meddling in the region. 

Days later President Petro tweeted a recent CNN in Spanish article which states that prosecutors in New York alleged that top Bukele officials made a pact with gangs. Supposedly in exchange for better lodgings, the gangs will reduce the murder rate. This is not a new allegation as I will briefly show, and it's part of an ongoing Infowar campaign against the country with lawfare elements that continue to be repeated with no real evidence behind it. President Petro did not hesitate in taking part in the US-pushed Infowar campaign by adding his own commentary, "Better than making government pacts under the table is that justice can make them on top of the table without deceit and in search of peace." 

The CNN article Petro used as evidence to carry out his virtue-signaling treachery followed unsubstantiated allegations first made by a 2020 El Faro article that the Bukele administration supposedly had been negotiating with MS-13 for a reduction in homicides and electoral Support. The story after first published spread like wildfire in the international media, especially in US proxy-controlled media around the world as part of a coordinated Infowar campaign meant to cripple the Salvadoran government’s goals and thus its sovereignty. The US government's Hybrid War against the Central American country had been intensified to contain any gains made under the Bukele government, even though it is not a Socialist revolutionary like Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba, his leadership has shown in various ways that El Salvador values sovereignty and thus are challenging the role given to them by the US in the region. While the US has not crippled El Salvador with the same might it has against the aforementioned socialist countries, there has been an ongoing intensification in info war campaigns mixed with lawfare elements which have all been neutralized and countered by prompt starcraft from Salvadorean officials. The Salvadoran president has criticized the United States in the past for playing a double role in the world, on the one hand, the Northemerican giant denounces supposed interference of China and Russia in electoral processes, while on the other hand, the US finances campaigns of political parties through NGOs in several countries of the world. US antagonism of Bukele has only worsened by the increased relations between El Salvador and China, though making Bitcoin legal tender in the Central American nation did not make him any friends in Washington either.

President Bukele answered, "Makeup your mind. First you accuse of inhumane treatment and now you talk about better conditions. Also I don't understand your obsession with El Salvador. Isn't your son the one who makes pacts under the table and also for money? Everything fine at home?" Bukele’s response to Petro reminded him of the financial mismanagement of his son Nicolas Petro, who has also been accused by his own ex-wife of having kept millions of dollars in campaign contributions. Petros woke opportunism miscalculated in thinking that he still had moral authority in the current circumstances and that Bukele would just take the verbal punishment.

How it ended

However, Petro answered once more with "... Here exists the presumption of innocence universal principle, here the president does not dismiss neither judges nor magistrates fight for a more autonomous and stronger justice. Here in Colombia, we deepen democracy not destroy it". To which Bukele replied by going for the jugular "Presumption of innocence? I imagine that you have never accused any of your opponents. The Colombians will know if that is true or another lie that you already seem to be addicted to. Besides, it was you who attacked me again and our internal affairs; I didn't even remember your existence".

President Gustavo Petro seems to have no self-awareness about having ties to drug trafficking after having pontificated so much against corruption and drug trafficking. On the other hand, he did not ask his son to resign from his role as deputy in the Atlantic Assembly, among others. But finally, on March 9 President Petro was forced to request an investigation of his son and also his brother for corruption. For his part, Petro said that his commitment to Colombia is to achieve peace and that anyone who wants to interfere in this purpose or take personal advantage of it, has no place in the government, even if they are members of his family, and also indicated that he will respect the conclusions reached by the justice system, although observers should indeed follow how the legal process is conducted in this case.

From Pink Tide to Woke Tide

The Pink Tide has been mostly accepted for the last 20 years as a somewhat watered down yet acceptable and practical even version of Latin American left in contrast with the communist worldview. And as of late one could state that the latest so-called “Pink Tide” morphed into an imperial force, becoming an even stronger pillar for US dominion in the region just like the classic Latin-American right-wingers. Nothing accentuates this unholy alliance, this coronation into woke Golden Billion nobility as Lula's infatuations with the US democrats party and Woke imperialists such as George Soros, a terrorist and color revolution propagator in the NGO financial complex. These Woke Latinamerican Globalist Leftists, which includes Petro Gustavo's first term and Lula during his third term, are liberal globalists who willingly follow the US lead instead of a multipolar worldview. George Soros has committed millions to aid Petro among other Colombian politicians through NGOS to prompt his woke geopolitical plans for Colombia.

That being said, the Colombian President has indeed managed to resist – somewhat – US pressures in certain aspects, for example, Petro has rejected the delivery of arms to Ukraine, as well as made efforts for the normalization of political and economic relations between Colombia and Venezuela. Although many have wondered if this very necessary normalization could be weaponized into a carrot & stick diplomacy strategy where the US via Colombia could control and subjugate Venezuela further in the future. Petro's and Lula's examples demonstrate a new woke Pink Tide is now operational, with leading self-declared “leftists” in Latin America being part of the US’ regional defense mechanisms as Hybrid War proxies themselves to side with the Golden Billion in resisting the global transition towards multipolarity.
